Replederm Age Redefine Trio | Review

Hello Beauties!

I hope you are well?

I have had the pleasure of testing out a new Australian skin care range from the Decode Life Group over the last 5 weeks, and I would like to share my thoughts with you today.

The range is called replederm, and consists of three core products known as the Age Redefine Trio.
replederm was launched in November 2015, just over a year ago, and was founded and developed by Tania Tan of Decode Life, an experienced community and compound pharmacist based in Victoria.

"Decode Life, founded in March 2015 by Tania Tan, began with a passion to assist busy and active middle aged women towards a vibrant, radiant and natural looking skin by incorporating the holistic approaches of age-old wisdom, modern research, and an open mind".

From this passion, the simple but potent, artisan replederm skin care range came about, designed to restore and nuture healthy skin.

I have been testing these products for 5 weeks now, using the transforming serum morning and night, and the dark spot corrector and anti-ageing creme in the evening.

Just to include a little background for you, I am 41 years old and have several skin concerns ( how long have you got? ha ha! ), including pigmentation from both previous sun damage and five pregnancies, fine lines and some deeper wrinkles, I am acne prone, and my skin type is combination/oily/dehydrated! Phew!

If you would like to hear my thoughts on the replederm Age Redefine Trio, then please read on!!

replederm Age Redefine Trio.

The transforming serum is a beautifully lightweight, refreshing serum that has slipped easily into both my morning and evening skin care routines. My skin drinks it up, and it immediately feels hydrated, soothed and comfortable. Absorption is rapid, with no residual tackiness.
One of this serum's star ingredients is honey. One of my favourite skin care ingredients, it is known for its natural anti-bacterial properties, and is very healing and soothing for the skin. I can detect the subtle scent of honey on application...it is lovely.
The serum also contains vitamins C and E for antioxidant protection, the moisture binding "magnet" hyaluronic acid, and marine collagen, which is believed to assist in the stimulation of collagen synthesis. With age comes wisdom, and concurrently, a great deal less collagen!! Collagen and Elastin are the building blocks of the skin, and as we age there is a natural decline in production. Give me all the collagen I say!
replederm transforming serum also contains soothing aloe, hydrating macadamia and jojoba oils along with extracts of kakadu plum, known to contain a very high concentration of vitamin C.
I have no doubt that this serum would likely suit most skin types. It has been an absolute pleasure to use, and is just lovely!

replederm dark spot corrector.

The dark spot corrector is a treatment cream which targets blemishes and pigmentation. I have been using it in the evenings, applying it after the serum, and before the anti-ageing creme.
One of the main ingredients is Niacinamide, otherwise known as vitamin B3. I am quite familiar with good old Niacinamide, and tend to look for it in my skin care products as I find it to give me noticeably brighter skin with improvement in both texture and clarity.
Pracaxi oil is another main ingredient, and one that I was not familiar with. After a little bit of research, I discovered some rather interesting facts! Pracaxi oil is native to the Amazon and contains high levels of behenic acid, which is believed to be beneficial in reducing skin discolouration. Interestingly, behenic acid can be useful in reducing stretch marks, and is also used in shampoos and conditioners as it is known to make your hair soft and shiny!
Amazonian locals use Pracaxi oil as an all-purpose natural remedy to accelerate healing of skin damage from small cuts and abrasions, insect and snake bites. It is also anti-bacterial, soothing and healing. Due to its ability to aid in cell renewal, it has more recently become an ingredient of benefit in skin care formulations.
The dark spot corrector has quite a thick texture, however it smoothes easily over the skin. It has no discernible fragrance. It contains plenty of nourishing oils, and also contains Shea Butter. I was a little worried initially that it may be too heavy for my acneaic skin, which will often react and break out in cystic acne when I use products containing shea, however I am pleased to report that have not had any issues whatsoever!
Though I don't have any photographs to share, I have certainly noticed an overall improvement in  skin clarity, I feel that my skin tone is more even, and some areas of pigmentation are looking noticeably lighter. It is recommended to be used morning and night for 8 weeks to see full results, so I will indeed update you with any further improvements!

The texture of the anti-ageing creme is soft, pillowy and luxurious. Sensorially it is a pleasure to apply, not only because of the lovely texture, but also due to the inclusion of some lovely essential oils of Frankincense, Ylang Ylang, Rose Geranium and Sandalwood. It absorbs quickly and easily, leaving a satin matte finish...not at all greasy or shiny.
The hydration and moisture protective elements are taken care of thanks to its base of glycerin, sunflower seed oil, sweet almond oil, macadamia oil and shea butter ( again, no issues with acne break outs at all ).
Again, hyaluronic acid and vitamin C are present, along with the anti-ageing heroes vitamin A and peptides to boost collagen and elastin production.
The anti-ageing creme is recommended primarily for dry, combination, and mature skin types, however my combo/oily/dehydrated skin likes it very much indeed! I have found all three of the products to layer nicely too. When I wake up in the morning my skin looks and feels hydrated without looking or feeling greasy. It looks plump and fresh. I have also noticed a happy coincidence of less pimples/acne, and generally much clearer skin for the last few weeks!

I am happy to report that the replederm literature recommends the use of adequate sunscreen during the day to protect your skin! It has been said many times before, but the best anti-ageing product you can use on your skin is a broad spectrum UVA/UVB sunscreen every day!

Do head over to the Decode Life website here, where you can read all about Tania's story, and purchase some of these lovely products if you wish to try them for yourself!
replederm is eco-friendly, cruelty free, not tested on animals, and made in Australia.

I can happily report that replederm products are currently 30% off until 29th December 2016!

transforming serum - RRP $89.90 now $62.90AUD.

dark spot corrector - RRP $79.90 now $55.90AUD.

anti-ageing creme - RRP $89.90 now $62.90AUD.

OR

The Age Redefine Trio is normally $219.90, down to $153.90AUD.

You can also purchase a trial pack ( I LOVE it when companies offer trial packs!! ) which gives you enough of each of the three products for one weeks use, for $4.95! I'd recommend grabbing 2 trial packs...two weeks supply will give you a good idea if your skin likes them, and will cost you less than $10.00!! Shipping is currently only available in Australia, with hopes to extend to International in the future.

Do let me know in the comments below if you have any questions! I have really enjoyed using the replederm Age Redefine Trio, and would not hesitate to recommend it!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Lou xo

Antipodes Reincarnation Pure Facial Exfoliator | Review

If you are a regular reader of my blog you will know that I am a big fan of chemical exfoliation, ( if you are a regular reader of my blog, then I am a big fan of you! ).

In fact, I don't think I have used a physical ( or granular ) exfoliant for the better part of 18 months. So when I was recently gifted the Antipodes Reincarnation Pure Facial Exfoliator,  I was slightly hesistant to give it a go.

In the past, I have found granular scrubs to be less than helpful to my combo/oily/acne prone complexion. I found them to be irritating, increase inflammation, and they would often spread the infection from current blemishes that I was experiencing. Not nice.

However, this product has changed my mind. Antipodes Reincarnation exfoliator is luxurious, nourishing, and very gentle on the skin. As Antipodes say "offer your skin new life"....alrighty then!

The base of kaolin, and apricot and avocado oils house very tiny jojoba beads. You may be able to see the texture in the photograph above, but they are very small. It has lovely dose of antioxidants from carrot seed oil and grapeseed extract, and calendula to calm and soothe redness. The fragrance is subtle and spa-like, with tonka bean, sweet orange and cedarwood blending together beautifully.

After cleansing, whilst my face is still moist, I take a blob about the size of a small grape and smooth it gently over my face. Using my finger tips, with very light pressure, I massage the product over my skin.  I do avoid massaging blemished areas, however I use a very gentle press and roll motion over the areas where I may have blemishes that are not infected and are starting to heal.

The texture is thick, creamy and luxurious, and rinses away nicely. Because it has an oil base, I follow with a warm/hot flannel just to finish off, and to make sure I have removed all of the product. My skin feels soft, smooth and looks plump and fresh. On with the hydrating mist, serum and moisturiser, and my makeup just glides on. Lovely.

Antipodes recommend Reincarnation Exfoliator for all skin conditions. It's recommended retail price is $42.00 AU. Worth every penny if you ask me. I will certainly be purchasing.

I would probably reach for this around once a week, or whenever the mood takes me. Even though it is very gentle, I avoid using AHA's or BHA's on the same day. I believe that it is recommended to do so, as it can be irritating to the skin. The surest sign for me that my skin is irritated, apart from inflammation, is increased oil production. Two things I try really hard to avoid, so I will heed that advice.

For you Aussie's, Antipodes is available at Priceline Pharmacy where is it currently 20% off!! I can't actually see Reincarnation online, but I have noticed it in-store, so do check your local area. I have also just found it on Myer's website here, and they currently have a gift with purchase as well!! It is also available online at Adore Beauty ,(one of my favourite online beauty stores), and Feel Unique and Beauty Bay both of which offer free worldwide shipping.

If you are interested in reading about Antipodes Aura Manuka Honey mask, I have favourably reviewed it here.

Have you tried Antipodes Reincarnation pure facial exfoliator? Are you a crushed walnut shell lover? (save it for your body). What is your favourite gentle exfoliator? I would love to hear from you! Please feel free to ask questions or leave a comment below!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Alpha-H Instant Facial | Review

I was honored to attend the launch of Alpha-H's new product,  Instant Facial  in Sydney recently. The evening was hosted by Michelle Doherty, the owner and founder of Alpha-H. There is something quite unique and special about hearing the owner of a brand talk about not only their products, but share their personal skincare story as well. It gives you a more holistic view of a brand to hear about it from its infancy, to the present day. Alpha-H is a successful, internationally acclaimed, award winning Australian skincare brand. I have been using Alpha-H products for about a year now, and I have been using chemical exfoliants as a part of my skincare routine for around 2 years.

Instant Facial is a product designed to slot in to your existing skincare routine. It could be described as a hydrating/exfoliating toner hybrid. Used after cleansing, and before your serum and moisturiser, it's glycolic acid goes to work exfoliating dead skin cells and encouraging the formation of collagen, whilst a blend of natural plant and herb extracts provide hydration, contain soothing anti-inflammatory and antiseptic benefits, and also temporarily smooth and refine the texture of the skin's surface. Sound a bit too good to be true?

Instant Facial  is described by Alpha-H as "Botanical Brilliance" in a bottle, so let's have a look at some of the ingredients...

Witch Hazel... the second ingredient listed, it is well known for its astringent properties, and often seen included in skincare products, or used on its own as a toner. Known to refine pores and hydrate the skin,  as well as provide antibacterial and anti-inflammatory benefits. I can notice a subtle scent of witch hazel when I use Instant Facial.

Glycerin... a very common ingredient in many skincare products, it draws water from both the environment and the deeper layers of skin, pulling it  into the outer layers of skin. It is hydrating and protecting.

Glycolic Acid... one of the most common AHA's ( alpha hydroxy acid ) typically derived from sugar cane. As I mentioned above, glycolic acid is an exfoliator, removing the layer of dead skin cells from the surface, allowing the fresh new skin cells to be revealed. Its ability to dissolve dead skin cells aides in the clearing of blocked pores and blackheads, it can reduce fine lines, scarring and hyperpigmentation. It will also, importantly, allow your skin to be able to absorb more efficiently those lovely serums, oils and moisturisers that we rely on to nourish, protect and repair our skin.

Plankton Extract... known to be used in skincare products for it moisturising, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant benefits. I did come across a small amount of literature which did suggest that the majority of marine extracts ( Marine Algae ) are thought to be comedogenic. I have not noticed any increase in congestion or comedones forming on my skin, and I am of the belief that the glycolic acid present in the product would counteract any such effect, if it does indeed occur at all.

Chamomile Extract, Thyme Extract, Arnica Flower Extract, Aloe Leaf Juice...a nice cocktail of soothing, anti-inflammatory, and skin repairing ingredients. Arnica is also known for its healing properties, stimulating the formation of new tissue.

Cypress and Barley Extracts... Cypress is know for its hydrating and pore refining qualities, while Barley is anti-inflammatory, and is also known to be a source of zinc, which aids in healing and repairing the skin. Worth noting is that Cypress and Barley do appear towards to end of the ingredient list, which generally means they are in smaller quantities.

I actually saw results after only a couple of days of using Instant Facial, and my skin is quite accustomed to products containing glycolic acid. I think the beauty of this product, is that its effects are both immediate, and ongoing. We all want that fresh, bright smooth complexion, and often look to makeup, or expensive serums and moisturisers to achieve it.

Both alcohol and oil free, Instant Facial does smooth, and reduce the appearance of my fine lines...and I do have fine lines yes!! It has also reduced the appearance of my enlarged pores. Now, if pores had their very own little muscles, they would be able to close and open. Unfortunately, they don't, it is not possible for pores to be 'closed' as such. However, I do find that my pores are "less noticeable". My skin looks more radiant, even toned, and just healthier. Fresh. Glowing.

Instant Facial is packaged in a spray bottle, however I prefer to spray it onto a cotton round and then apply to my face. I like to be precise with where I am putting glycolic acid. You can spray directly onto your face if you wish, however you will need to cover your eyes. Two sprays directly onto the cotton round is the perfect amount for my face, neck and decollatage. Through my own experience of using this product over the last 5-6 weeks, any more than that seems to be excessive, and leaves an almost tacky residue on my skin. Less is more for me.

I do feel the 'tingle' that comes with glycolic acid products. It almost feels 'prickly' to me. I feel it immediately on application, and it usually lasts 10-15 seconds before dissipating. It is normal to feel this to some degree. As I mentioned earlier, I have been using AHA and BHA exfoliants for the last two years. When I first started to incorporate exfoliating toners into my routine I started gently, using them 3 times a week at first to see how my skin would react. I then built up to every second day, and then finally to daily use. If you are just starting out with acid exfoliators,  don't feel like you need to rush into twice daily use immediately...it is ok to take your time, and approach them gently.

It is recommended to use alone for an intensive treatment, if you wish. I believe that this allows the glycolic acid to work its magic without being hindered by other products being layered on top of the skin. It is important that exfoliating preparations have a low pH, in order for them to work efficiently. Healthy skin actually sits at a pH of 4.5-5.5, which is naturally acidic. Although it does contain hydrating and water holding ingredients, it does not provide enough hydration on its own for me, so on a daily basis I will continue on with my serum and moisturiser. I do like to wait about 2-3 minutes after application for it to absorb and settle on my skin.

To keep it all in the context of my skincare routine, I am using other products that I am very happy with, that I believe are also contributing to how I see my skin looking and feeling at the moment. Some of them are from Alpha-H, some of them are not. I think the cleansers, serums, and oils that I use, along with Instant Facial are improving the overall health of my skin, helping reduce the length and severity of breakouts, and giving me more of a glow. Because we all want a little bit of glow don't we?

Do let me know in the comments below if you have tried Instant Facial! Do you have a favourite exfoliating product? I would love to hear from you!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Blessings,

Lou xo

Black Chicken Remedies Organic Skincare | Review

I have recently discovered a lovely skincare brand, Black Chicken Remedies, and wanted to share my thoughts with you today. It is a rather unusual name, so I thought I would share this story from the brand below. It gives you an idea of the vision behind the products...

The Legend of the Black Chicken

It is said that Black Chicken is an ancient crone, renowned for her healing power and ability to transform her appearance at will.

For centuries they came, with their problems and ailments, to sit at her feet. Only those with good hearts were admitted. Those who had forgotten to how to trust sought her door in vain.

So the story goes...

They came for comfort, for salves, for oils and herbs, for creams and cures.

They told their stories and for each she had a little magic to spare.

Black Chicken knows, they said, one to another, and so their children learned, and their children's children.

Black Chicken knows.

I discovered the Australian brand Black Chicken Remedies a little over 2 months ago. I had seen Caroline Hirons recommend the "Cleanse My Face" Purifying Cleansing Oil on instagram, and was immediately intrigued.

Off to their website I went, and became increasingly impressed, and interested in all of the information presented,  the detailed discussion of the ingredients of the products, and their benefits.

My initial purchase was made that same evening, and within 2 days my order had arrived. The travel skin care and starter pack ( $34.95AU ), and the Cleanse My Face Purifying Oil Cleanser 100ml.

As soon as I opened my package, I could smell the signature Black Chicken Remedies blend of essential oils. I knew we were going to get along just fine...

The Travel skin care kit and starter pack contains:

Cleanse My Face Purifying Oil Cleanser - 5ml
Love Your Face Serum - 5ml
Love Your Body Oil - 5ml
Balm of Ages All Purpose Remedy -15g
Axilla Deodorant Paste - 15g

Packaged in a small black mesh carry bag, all of the oils are in beautiful quality bottles with dropper dispensers, ideal for re-use. The balm and paste are in screw top jars.

This is a wonderful way to try some of the Black Chicken Remedies products, and I believe great value for money. You will be able to sample the products, feel the beautiful textures, inhale the balancing and calming aromas of the oils, and most importantly see how they perform for your skin.

As I have mentioned in previous posts, I have oily/combination skin that is acne prone. My issues with acne stem from having Polycystic Ovary Sydrome.  I have only recently learned, that I need to stop treating my skin like I did when I was younger.  It is hard not to get angry and frustrated at your skin when you feel like you are always having to deal with breakouts. Whether it's congestion and blackheads, multiple pimples, or those horrible painful lesions that lurk under your skin, acne can have a huge effect on your self esteem. I've been there, I understand, and I still struggle with it.

So, instead of punishing my skin by loading on layers of topical drying treatments, I am taking a gentler approach, and have seen some great improvements in my skin over the last 12 months.

The products I have tried recently from Black Chicken Remedies have been wonderful. They are balancing, hydrating and calming. I have noticed a decrease in inflammation, and a general improvement in texture and tone. I also feel like my skin is producing less oil, and if I do experience any breakouts they are significantly less severe and heal very quickly.

I absolutely adore the natural fragrance of these products. Fragrance is a very personal thing. We are all different when it comes to our likes and dislikes. I appreciate that some people do not like fragrance in their skincare products, or can be sensitive to them, particularly for the face. The essential oils in these products are as medicinal for your skin as the base oils, they are not there just to make them smell good, even though they do that very well!

I have always been interested in aromatherapy, and love burning essential oils at home. As someone who suffers from anxiety, I find the scent of these products almost immediately calming. It is difficult to describe, but to me it is warm, earthy, subtly floral, with a hint of sweetness. It makes me feel comforted and at ease.

This is an absolutely beautiful oil cleanser. The photograph above clearly lists all ingredients. I use two pumps ( yay, a pump! ) for my evening cleanse, massage it in all over my face, including over my eyes. It has a beautiful silky, velvety texture.  I spend a minute or two massaging and inhaling the gorgeous aroma, then remove with a warm flannel. It removes all of my makeup with ease.

I normally follow an oil or balm cleanser with a non foaming gel cleanser, however if I feel that my skin is a little dehydrated, I will double cleanse with this. On occasion, I will apply the second layer of oil, and leave it on my skin as a hydrating mask while I wash my body/hair...more breathing, and then go in again several times with my warm flannel to remove, rinsing it well in between.

Click Here to go to the blog on the website detailing the benefits of the oils you will find in many of the Black Chicken Remedies products...

Love Your Face Serum has been described by the creator, Chey, as the "No-tox Botox" for your face. This very lightweight oil absorbs into my skin almost immediately, and gives you the most beautiful glow. It gives your skin a lovely boost of hydration, and can be used alone, or under your moisturiser morning and night. After trying this serum, I have repurchased the full 30ml size, which you see in the above photographs.

For my skin, I find it enough on its own. I use 2, sometimes 3 drops, and apply to my face in the evenings. I then spend a minute pressing it into my skin with my hands, whilst...you guessed it...breathing.

This serum is just beautiful. Perfectly hydrating. Fine lines are plumped up and definitely less noticeable! If your skin is normal to dry, or clinically dry, this serum would layer very nicely under your moisturiser. If you use and love oils on your face, then you will love this! If you don't use oils, then this one may well convert you!

I am currently scraping the edges of the first little pot of this gorgeous balm that came in my travel/starter kit. As you can see, I have repurchased the big daddy in the 75g tin. It has become by go-to balm for my cuticles and hands. I absolutely adore it. It is the most hydrating balm I have tried to date, and my cuticles have never been in better condition. It melts into your skin like butter, and smells divine ( of course ). A little goes a long way, my smaller sized tin has lasted me 2 months of daily use ( and multiple times during the day! )

I also use this on any dry patches of skin on my body, particularly elbows and feet, and as a sufferer of winter excema, this will indeed get a lot of use in the coming months as the weather here in Australia cools down.

It is also brilliant for mozzie bites! My children now come to me asking for the "special cream" and it works a treat at soothing itching and inflammation.

I have not tried this as a balm cleanser, as the first ingredient is shea butter, and I am a little wary because I have found shea to be a little too heavy for my skin in the past. As we head into winter, and my skin naturally produces less oil, I will give it a go and report back!!

" An intriguing scent combining the pure essential oils of sandalwood, geranium, patchouli, lavender, carrot, ylang ylang, and nutmeg in a blend of avocado, rosehip, hazelnut and coconut oil. 100% natural ingredients"

A beautiful all over body oil. Non-greasy and nourishing, I use this as a weekly treat for my skin after my shower in the evenings. On occasion I put whatever is left on my hands through the ends of my hair.

PJ's on...cup of tea...into bed...glorious.

I have been pleasantly surprised at how well this natural deodorant works. It is certainly a little different to get used to using a paste, but it is nice to know, as with all of the products in this range, that there are natural alternatives out there that work. And they work in a way that is going with your body, and not against it.

I am delighted to be able to share with you some thoughts from Chey, the creator of Black Chicken Remedies. I asked her if she would mind sharing a little of her story, her vision, and what led her to creating her own skincare line.

I loved reading this, and I hope you do too...

"About 17 years ago while working in banking I discovered aromatherapy and was amazed by the potency of essential oils for healing. My new passion occupied my every thought. I read everything I could about oils and their properties and experimented day and night with the support of enthusiastic friends and family. My knowledge and experience grew day by day. I remember the day in Aromatherapy class about 15 years ago when I learned that some essential oils we put on our body, within 20 minutes they can be detected in the liver, this started me thinking what ingredients were in the beauty products we use every day? When I learned just how toxic many of these products were I knew in my heart I could create truly authentic products that heal rather than harm".

"My vision is to create products using the power of mother nature to bring the body back into equilibrium. The knowledge of the ancient medicine men and women has been lost today with people wanting a quick fix for everything and putting harsh chemicals on their body to stop something from happening. I believe everything is happening for a reason. For example - We sweat for a reason so if we just apply toxic chemicals in antiperspirant to our bodies we will stop sweating but I believe its dangerous and thats supported by loads of research. We need to listen to our bodies and approach it with love and attention. When was the last time anyone applied moisturiser with awareness? Hopefully the products I create make people stop for a moment and be present."

Dr LeWinn's 4 Fusion Cleansing Oil | Review

If you have ever thought about trying an oil cleanser, or are looking for an affordable alternative to some of the offerings from high end or luxury brands, then look no further than Dr LeWinn's 4 Fusion Cleansing Oil.

I started experimenting with oil and balm cleansers around eight months ago, and haven't looked back. As I have mentioned in previous skincare posts, I have oily/combo, acne prone, dehydrated skin. I use my oil or balm cleansers as a part of my evening skincare routine. I am not currently using face wipes, cleansing waters or a separate eye makeup remover. My oil or balm cleanser and a soft, fluffy face washer is all I need.

Whilst loving the transformative process of applying my makeup, there is something to be said for embracing and enjoying the evening ritual of cleansing.

As the name suggests, Dr LeWinn's 4 Fusion Cleansing Oil contains four lovely "good for skin" oils, as well as some other well known oils and ingredients as the base for their formula.
I decided to do a little more of my own research into some of the ingredients, and thought I would share it with you. I hope you might find it useful!

Glycine Soya or soybean oil is the first ingredient listed. It is high in vitamin E, a powerful antioxidant which also acts as an anti-inflammatory agent for the skin. Glycine Soya is often used in skincare preparations to specifically prevent damage to collagen and elastin fibers, and it is ideal for emulsifying ( mixing with water ) to allow it to be easy washed/rinsed away.

Rosehip Oil is very high in fatty acids which aid in skin cell regeneration and repair. This is why you often hear that Rosehip oil is recommended for assisting in healing and reducing scarring and hyper pigmentation.
It is also high in antioxidants to protect the skin, and to promote the formation of collagen.

Tamanu Oil is a healing and anti-inflammatory nut oil, which also assists in regenerating the skin, and promoting the formation of new tissue. It moisturisers, and nourishes the skin.

Argan Oil protects, moisturises and reduces redness and irritation. Also high in vitamin E, omegas, and has antibacterial properties.

Baobab Oil is extracted from the fruit seed of the baobab tree. Used by African societies for centuries, it is high in Omegas 3, 6 and 9, and is exceptionally moisturising, emollient and soothing, without clogging pores.

Calendula Flower Extract has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, stimulates collagen and promotes healing.

Lemon Myrtle Oil is antiseptic, antiviral, emotionally uplifting, refreshing and calming.

Benzoyl Alcohol I assume is included in the ingredients to function as a preservative. I tend to avoid the types of alcohols that are known to be potentially drying or irritating to the skin, and this is one of them. However, in my humble opinion, any drying effect that may possibly occur would be balanced and corrected by the nourishing oils. Also of note, this is a cleanser, and is only on the skin for a couple of minutes at most, so in short, the inclusion of alcohol in this cleanser has not been an issue for me.

How Does The Vine Use it?

My preference with cleansing balms and oils is to apply to a dry face. I use 2 pumps and massage it in, all over my face for about a minute, and then remove with a clean washcloth soaked in nice warm water. I then rinse the washcloth, and go over my face again, making sure to remove all of the cleanser. I use a fresh clean face washer every day.  Some thicker balm cleansers can be a little more difficult to emulsify, however if that is your preference than this one will emulsify very easily and beautifully, allowing you to rinse away the oil grime and makeup of the day.

The directions do specify to avoid direct contact with your eyes. However, I massage the oil over my eyes to remove my eye makeup. It does a brilliant job, and I have experienced no irritation or stinging at all. I do be careful to close my eyes, not sure I want it IN my eyeballs!!

In the evenings I double cleanse, and it will depend on my mood or how my skin is behaving as to which cleanser I choose. If I am feeling particularly dehydrated, I will double cleanse with the oil. If not, I will typically use Alpha-H Triple Action cleansing gel, a gentle non foaming cleanser which I adore.

Dr LeWinn's 4 Fusion Cleansing oil smells lovely to me. You can definitely notice the fresh scent of the lemon myrtle, though I don't find it overpowering. I am also aware of the scent of the base oils, which have a natural, earthy smell in my opinion.

Dr LeWinn's 4 Fusion Cleansing Oil is currently 20% off at Priceline Pharmacy nationally, so you can take home a lovely cleansing oil for just under $24.00. It's Rrp is $29.99.

Have you tried any Dr LeWinn's products?

Christmas Beauty Buys - Skincare - ALPHA-H Berry Box Gift Set

I am so excited to share this gift set with you today!!

I was first introduced to the brand Alpha-H about 6 months ago. I purchased one of their skincare sets from TVSN ( shopping channel in Aus ) and have really enjoyed exploring the brand since then. Alpha-h is probably most well know for their glycolic acid based exfoiliant "Liquid Gold".
( Have it. Love it. )

Quite a few Alpha-H products have become staples in my morning and evening skincare routines. I am planning some more in depth skincare posts very soon...lots of great products to share with you!

I feel that this gift set ( it is limited edition ) is absolutely brilliant value. It was in my shopping cart within minutes, purchased from Adore Beauty, one of my favourite online stores for all things beauty here in Australia.

The Berry Box would make such a beautiful gift, at a very reasonable $59.46 ( AUD ) you get two gorgeous recently released body products, the cleansing cube ( full size ), and 100ml size of the new Firming Body Therapy; the brand new full size Protection Plus Daily SPF 50+ facial moisturiser, and a full size gorgeous OPI nail polish in the shade 'That's Berry Daring'.

This Christmas, Alpha-H gives you a well though out, beautifully packaged, luxurious gift with all the essentials for top to toe weekly pamper session, without forgetting the daily essential of sun protection.

This little beauty is far to special to ever be called soap. I am typically a shower gel/cleansing puff kind of gal, and I can't remember the last time I used a bar of anything to wash myself. This is my second cleansing cube! It is packed with nourishing oils, and the little cranberry seeds and glycolic acids lightly buff away your barnacles to perfection. Brilliant. I use it twice a week ( too special for everyday! )

Uncomplicated, sleek packaging. Pump dispenser. Brilliant.

Above is a swatch of the Protection Plus Daily SPF 50+ Broad Spectrum, as you can see it is slightly tinted, hence no white cast. It blends beautifully, is absorbed almost immediately into the skin, and leaves a demi matte, natural finish to the skin. I have used this under my makeup for the last 4 days, and it is performing really nicely under foundation for my oily/combo/acne prone skin.

You may have noticed the glow of my skin under the swatch? That would be the gorgeous glow from the Firming Body Therapy! The unique combination of the Cleansing Cube, along with the Firming Body Therapy has given me the softest, smoothest skin...I can't recommend them highly enough!

The 'Berry' theme of this gift set is carried through nicely, from the nourishing raspberry and cranberry fruit extracts in the skincare products, to this stunning OPI shade "That's Berry Daring".

Unfortunately, my photos are not capturing the true depth of colour of this gorgeous shade. It has a vibrant blue reflect which makes it look more fuschia than the deeper berry that it is in real life. Pictured is two coats, with top coat. Impeccable formula.
